Maximise Your GrabRewards by:
1. Double The Rewards With Credit Cards
Pairing credit cards and E-wallet is the one of the best ways to maximise rewards.
Optimise the cash back or credit card points by topping up the GrabPay wallet. However, this only applies to credit cards that reward E-Wallet top-up. Personally, I use Affin Duo, which I get 3% cashback by reloading my Grab wallet.
On top of rewards from credit cards, you also got to enjoy the rewards of GrabPay.
[Updated 6th August 2023] Personally does not use GrabPay as often anymore as the GrabRewards earning rate are significant lower than it used to be.
2. Pay Everything Using GrabPay
Concentrate on all your spending by using GrabPay only. (Whenever possible and available) From takeaways at the “kopitiam” to pay bills, don’t underestimate the accumulate of rewards you will be getting.
The more you pay by GrabPay, the more it will become a habit. Now, the one question I asked every time at the cashier is “Hi, do you accept GrabPay?”.
[Updated 6th August 2023] Personally does not use GrabPay as often anymore as the GrabRewards earning rate are significant lower than it used to be.
3. Work Your Way Up to Platinum Member
[Updated 6th August 2023] This no longer applies as GrabRewards earning rate is no longer based on member tier.
In case you wonder why you should bother about the member tier because Platinum members are able to maximise the earning rate of GrabReward points.
For your reference, below is the table from Grab website.
In order to achieve the Platinum tier, my calculation shows you need to spend RM1,757 using GrabPay Wallet. (Paying for using cards or other methods does not earn Grab Points.)
RM1,757 is totally reasonable and achievable as long as you follow point No. 2, which is pay everything using GrabPay wallet.
4. Maximise Rewards By Campaigns
From time to time, Grab will come up with campaigns. I recommend taking advantages of the campaigns, especially campaigns like the GrabRewards Pointsback Campaign.
Normally, 160 Grabrewards points would be RM1, but you can get as low as 96 Grab Points exchange for RM1. (If you are a Platinum member.)
Previously, I able to change the RM20 Lazada Voucher with 1,920 Grab Points. (Use 3,200 Grab Points to redeem and Pointsback Campaign refund 1,280 Grab Points, so the total is 1,920 Grab Points.)
5. Complete The Challenges
Some might not realise that Grab does have Challenges available too. I only realised the challenges recently.
I took the Maybank Bonanza Challenge and earned extra 2,400 Grab Points. However, the points are not qualified for tier upgrade.
(Challenge 1) 400 + (Challenge 2) 800 + (Challenge 3) 1,200 = 2,400, which equivalent to RM15 (160 Grab Points is equivalent to RM1 currently.).
Above are how I maximise the rewards from GrabRewards and achieve the Platinum tier within 60 days. My monthly expenses are considered as a minimum. The Platinum tier could be easily achieved even faster if you have higher spending power.
If you have any others ways to maximise GrabRewards, feel free to share with me below!
